Vacation!
So the last week or so has been pretty good. There have been some changes at work since some important people have left. This has gotten me to do a little work in R&D with Adam, which I am super stoked about. I have also had a chance to get together with another UW CS student, Micheal Beal, and work on some render farm management software. I am finally getting to do some technical programming and analyze how to optimize databases. I think sometimes I would be more effective if my job satisfaction was raised. It seems to be working right now.
For the past two months Chris Evans and I have been running at lunch. He said to everyone in the TD group, "I want to go running, I just need someone to run with.". I responded saying that I would go and then he laughed. He laughed because he thought I would not want to run with him because he was too slow. I have to hand it to him though. We start running 3 miles each afternoon in over 35 minutes. Now in about the same amount of time we are running nearly 4.5 miles. Chris has definitely improved and it has been fun to watch him do so. I think it helps his energy level and mood. The other great thing about running each day is that we have slowly got other people to run with us. Originally it was only the two of us, but some days we have up to 5 or 6 people. I hope people keep this up because it is a great way to break up they day and stay in shape.
Next week is going to be great. I start my vacation on Friday and will have two weeks off. I plan to spend the first half with Sandra driving back to Seattle. We plan on going to the San Diego Zoo and then we will drive up to San Francisco for a few days. The most important thing on the list of things to do is to eat dim sum. After San Franciso we will head towards Yosemite. There will do lots of hiking and I hope to get some bouldering in. I hope to take some nice photos that I can share with my dad. In high my brother dad and I drove up the coast California from Mexico and we took a lot of photos. Unfortunately they were lost in a hard drive crash, so I hope to take some of the photos we lost again. I think that will be a nice gift for him.
Once in Seattle I will get help Kagan and Eric fix up Kagan's place. According to Eric, they left me a lot of work to do. All I have to say is there better be some cycling and rock climbing in the schedule too. I promised Chris I would run everyday, so I can't forget to do that. Otherwise he will be setting the pace when I get back.
Some other notable events that have occurred recently. I got a new cell phone. Apparently it is not featured on the US LG site, but it is on Canada's .... weird. Last night I lost my keys when I left work at 1:30 am. I got home and had to knock on the door and call my roommate to get let in. I hope someone at work finds my lost keys. Steven met some nice kalifornia gurls. Alissa is in Hong Kong getting a masters in Linguistics. Tammy is going to get married soon. Oh yeah, I also want a digital SLR camera. And lastly, I should probably shave one of these days because the MOCAP cave is turning me into a hermit.
